Frequently Asked Questions

A self-dumping hopper is a heavy-duty container designed to collect, transport, and automatically dump materials using a forklift. The hopper releases its contents by activating the dump mechanism and then returns to the locked position after emptying.

OxBox hoppers are designed to handle a wide range of materials, including:

  • Scrap metal
  • Wood debris
  • Glass Recycling
  • Construction waste
  • Industrial materials
  • General shop and warehouse waste

OxBox offers multiple sizes and capacities to fit different jobsite and facility needs. Contact our team for current size availability and recommendations based on your application.

Most customers are unsure what “2-yard” or “4-yard” really means — and that’s completely normal. The best way to choose is by considering:

  • What material you’re handling
  • How often it will be emptied
  • Available space

As a general guide:

  • 2 Yard = about 1 pickup load
  • 3–4 Yard = about 2–3 pickup loads
  • 5+ Yard = larger bulk handling applications

Many customers shop by available space first.

Important considerations include:

  • Will it fit under a dock or conveyor?
  • Does it fit through doorways or aisles?
  • Is there enough forklift clearance?

That’s why we recommend checking:

  • Width
  • Height
  • Footprint

before focusing only on cubic yard capacity.

That’s common. Most customers start with:

  1. What material they’re handling
  2. How they plan to empty it
  3. Space limitations
  4. Frequency of use

Our team can help recommend the right OxBox configuration based on your application and workflow.

Most standard forklifts can safely operate an OxBox hopper when matched to the hopper’s loaded weight capacity. Always verify your forklift’s rated lifting capacity before use.

As the forklift tilts the mast just a few degrees forward the OxBox will tip and the unique self-locking mechanism will release the door.  Simply tilt the mast back or lower to the ground and the OxBox will reset and the door is locked.
